The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority provides plenty of public transportation across town and into downtown Boston. There are five subway stations along the Red line serving Cambridge, to include: Alewife, Porter Square, Harvard Square, Central Square, and Kendall Square/MIT. The commuter rail runs through Cambridge at Porter Square and the green line can be found at the Lechmere station.

Cambridge borders the towns of Belmont, Arlington, and Somerville, as well as Boston to the south.
