Nonantum is positioned at the northern end of Newton, and it is also known as “Silver Lake” or “The Lake” by the locals; referring to a lake that was once a part of the village, but was later filled in with construction rubble in the 1950s. Nonantum’s most noteworthy attractions are the many restaurants and food markets featuring Italian cuisine.

Newtonville is mostly suburban homes. Its village center hosts a variety of venues with restaurants, bakeries, cafes, book stores, banks, fitness centers, and even a pet store.
