Participating in Earth Day 2022

This year, Earth Day will be celebrated on April 22nd – but this doesn’t mean that we can’t get a head start! Typically, the entire Month of April is viewed as Earth Month with events that get the community involved in bettering our planet. The theme for Earth Day 2022 is ‘Invest in Our plant’ and we want to show you the many different ways in which you can show up this year!

Earth Day is Every Day Festival

Join the Boston Nature Center for their annual Earth Day is Everyday an Earth Day redux full of family-friendly fun! With the help of the staff, you and your family can create tie-dye using natural plant dyes, create environmentally friendly gardening take-home projects, play earth-themed games, and participate in the city nature challenge.

One of the most impactful things an individual can do to protect this planet and avert the climate crisis is to replace animal foods with plant foods in the diet. In fact, experts say it is essential to do so.

Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup

The Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup builds on a national effort as part of American Rivers’ National River Cleanup®, which to date, has removed over 25 million pounds of trash from America’s waterways. From 2016 to 2019, the Annual Earth Day Charles River Cleanup was recognized by American Rivers for the Most Pounds of Trash Collected and Most Volunteers Mobilized.?

Speak for the Trees Walkathon

Trees provide us all with life, connection, cooler temperatures, beauty, character, a feeling of home, perspective, clean air, and strong community! Let’s thank them and celebrate the Boston urban canopy together! Take a walk, ride, or roll (or two or three) among the trees in your neighborhood during ArborWeek (April 24-30) to raise awareness and funds for Tree Equity in Boston. This is a self-led walk/roll where you choose your own route and get to know and share the trees in your neighborhood.

Newton Earth Day Festival

Bring your friends and family to Newton’s own Earth Day Festival on Sunday, April 24 from 1-4pm at the War Memorial Circle at Newton City Hall for live music, a petting zoo, face painting, a green technology showcase, an EV expo, nature-themed activities, snacks, and more!
